Application: Lids application
For the manufacture of thermoformed lids, Lakatos recommends to the TC line. TC is a line of continuous and automatic machines ideal for the production of thermoformed parts from rolls. Its cut and mold are done on the same station: after cut and molded, the pieces are stacked and counted automatically. TC is modularly assembled (unwinder, conveyor, oven, press, stacker and output) and its modules can be individually customized to meet the various needs of each customer. This line works with PS, PP, PET, PVC rolls among others.
The most common lids available are Ø75 mm (for cups of 180 and 200 ml), Ø84 mm (for cups of 300 ml) and Ø97 mm (for cups of 400 and 500 ml). With or without cross for straw.
These items are usually made of HIPS with thickness of 0,25mm or PP with thickness of 0,35mm.
There are also lids for sealed polypropylene pots, usually for Ø106,126 and 150mm and lids for rectangular pots such as the margarine packs. This lids line is produced from 0,4 to 0,55mm.
The most important technologies applied on this process and used by Lakatos are:
- In-mold cutting - there is no decentralization of the cut compared with the molding.
- Steel rule knife cutting - less cost of the mold compared with punched cut machines.
- Pressure forming that guarantees highspeed and more precise definition in the molded parts.
- Male mold that assures higher stiffness to final product and locks with no variation throughout the process.
