Application: Bathtubs and Restrooms application

Thermoforming is used in this segment to manufacture bathtubs, spas, shower trays, cabinets and drawers. The choice of machine for this application depends on the mold manufacturing method, the amount produced per batch and the diversity of molds. Lakatos recommends Supravac and Supravac 2 lines, for more flexible productions and many mold changes. Another option is the RV-2 line for aluminum molds in large scale production for each mold. The materials used are PSAI, PMMA (acrylic) and ABS. The thickness of the sheets ranges from 1.5 to 8 mm. Some of the parts used when building bathrooms can be reinforced with fiber glass or PU spray to obtain the resistance needed at a low cost. The exposed parts can be texturized or bright by co-extrusion/co-laminated process in the manufacturing process.
